Well as most of you know, the schedule is basic and the same as usual:
Friday Night ~ After you get checked into your room, be sure to come on over to the Pavillion. We will be having a potluck dinner (for those who do not understand 'potluck' that means you bring something to share with everyone or at least for your family to eat ~ this is a joke from last year's reunion...they know who they are! HAHAH!!!!) We had so much fun on Friday night last year. We will be making homemade ice cream again, so be sure to bring all of your favorite ingredients. We will have the ice and the rock salt for you. The kids can swim in the pool (right next to the pavillion) until 7pm and then they will be able to go down, swim & hang out in the river until parents say otherwise.
Saturday ~ we will have a continental breakfast available for those that get up and join us early enough. Then it is off for lots of fun. With the Colorado River right there, we hope many of you are able to bring your boats and take all the kids out and see who lasts the longest on skiis or tubes. For those who are more inclined to the air conditioned pavillion room, be sure to bring your cards or dominoes. There are lots of us who do not know how to play '42' & '80' and need to be taught. I remember those games going on for hours and hours. Does anyone remember playing 'Hand & Foot' or 'Skip-Bo'? Maybe there will be enough turn out and we can have a tournament of sorts.
Lunch will be around 12pm. We will serve coldcuts and all the fixings of a great sandwich to hold off complete starvation. It's time to take in nourishment and drink and visit for a while before we go back to the water or table games. Spend the afternoon around the recreation room. You never know what might happen next. Surprises are sure to be around every corner.
Dinner will be servedDinner will be served at approximately 5:30 -6:00pm. We will have a fabulous dinner together and catch up on what everyone did for the day. Then it is time for the AUCTION. This has become the backbone of the Reunion. The money we raise this year will go to fund the reunion for next year. Everyone is asked to bring things that can be bid on. Wonderful things to share with the rest of the family. If anyone has things that were handed down by the Woodfins and are willing to share them with the rest of the family for a price...we encourage you to bring them. Many of Mimi's (Aunt Bonnie's) aphgan's always went for a great deal of money. Oh my goodness, I remember the year a bag of unshelled pecans that Papaw (Uncle Frank) had picked from his own pecan trees went for $80, then whoever had won that auction, put them back in because so many people wanted to have them. Those are the kinds of things that happen to make this wonderful gathering possible. (I bet those pecans were the best tasting pecans EVER) Last year we had many, many things that were brought for the children to bid on (and the parents to pay for, wink wink). Lots of fun to say the least. Nothing is too small or too large. If you think someone will want it... BRING IT!
Sunday ~ again a continental breakfast will be served for those who are not too exhausted to get up and join us. Around 9:00 am we will have our annual business meeting to discuss the reunion for next year. We hope that we have found the next place that will host our reunion for the next several years. It is at this time we will discuss who will be the host and hostess for next year, too. Please be sure to try and make this. It is very important that all of the families come together and be a part of the business meeting. It will not take very long, then it will be a sad time to pack and say our good-bye's until next year.
